Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am concerned about a painful bump on my penis. The bump appeared after masturbation. I also suffer from erectile dysfunction, and I am not sexually active. The bump is on the bottom left side of the penis shaft. The veins around the bump are quite red and are somewhat enlarged. It is severely painful to the touch, and it is painful to have an erection. There is pain while urinating, also. I suffered from a yeast infection a few months ago, and the symptoms lasted for approximately four months. Unfortunately, the urologist was not able to provide a diagnosis.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. However, there are two possibilities for your condition. Peyronies disease is fibrosis of the inner covering of the erection cylinders in your penis shaft, often due to repeated bending trauma and cracks that heal and get fibrosis, causing further cracks during the next intercourse or manipulation. This cycle continues. If it is painful, it means it is still an acute phase. After consulting a specialist doctor, you can get intralesional steroid injections to ease the pain. And possibly reverse or arrest the fibrosis. If bending is significant, it can be corrected surgically. The less likely possibility is a penile fracture. But with penile fractures, there will be discoloration, swelling, and pain. I suggest you follow up with your urologist and, if needed, get the cause of erectile dysfunction determined and get a penile doppler ultrasound done. Also, you can take supplements to improve erections.

Thank you.
