Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 20-year-old female with a height of five feet three inches and a weight of 154 lbs. When I have penetrating sex, I get a burning sensation in the vagina. Also, when the penis goes back and forth, I feel bad, and I try to push it out. It started ever since I had sex and my sex drive is low. Due to this, my sexual life is not being enjoyable. We also use Vaseline for lubrication. So I do not think that dryness would be the problem. As far as I know, my hymen has been popped.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. It can be due to

• Dryness caused due to infection, improper foreplay, dehydration, age factor, hormonal imbalance. You can try natural ways by increasing foreplay and lubrication. You can use lubricants KY Gel (which works better than Vaseline).

• injury caused due to dryness and deep penetration in a few positions during sex.

• Infection

• Vaginismus - Fear during sex causes muscles in the genital to contract and cause pain to both partners.

• Congenital abnormality.

• History of surgery in the genital region.

• Stress-induced.

• Injury of the cervix by penis.

• Fibroids. Kindly share more details regarding the above issue. We can work on diagnosis and management.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Hello again, I do not know much other than the most likely reason, which is probably hormone imbalance. I also have painful periods which is not irregular with hair loss, fatigue, tender breasts, and acne.

Answered by Dr. Raveendran S R

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If it is probably hormone imbalance, we need to do investigations such as T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine), TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone), prolactin, and testosterone. A painful period can be due to hormone imbalance and vitamin deficiency. If you are not on any medication, you can use tablet Astymin forte (multivitamin supplement) and Shelcal (Calcium with vitamin D3) once a day and do regular exercise and yoga to improve stamina. If you have pain now, you need to use tablet Zerodol P (Aceclofenac with Paracetamol) as-needed basis.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Could my family doctor do anything like blood work to see whether I have a hormonal imbalance? I do not have any injuries and am not an alcoholic.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, your doctor can help you. Basic investigations can be done, and it is not an issue. You can also share a copy of the investigation to help you and give you more insight.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
