Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have felt uncomfortable and irritated for no reason for the past few weeks. Whenever I feel irritated I scratch my arm. This has been happening ever since I noticed the changes in myself; my appetite has reduced drastically. I feel nauseating, and sometimes I feel like fainting. I have mood swings, feel left out, jealous, and find it hard to control my anger. I cry every time my teachers talk about it to me. I have been pushing people away as I feel unstable. I have had gastric issues previously. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I appreciate you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I think that you may have a major depressive disorder. It can be due some underlying stress in your life. You need to learn to deal with it. I suggest you to do the following -

  1. Start exercising daily for at least 30 to 45 minutes like going for a walk.
  2. Do meditation for 20 minutes daily. It will help you to relax and can reduce irritability.
  3. Eat healthy home-cooked foods, and avoid junk food.
  4. Drink enough water.
  5. Spend quality time with friends and family daily. Do not push people away from you or isolate yourself.
  6. Spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  7. Get enough sleep daily (7 to 8 hours of sleep is required for a healthy individual).
  8. Avoid tobacco or alcohol or any other substance abuse.

I hope that you got your answer. Please, let me know if you want some help. Thank you.

Investigations to be done

1. Complete blood count. 2. Random blood sugar. 3. Thyroid profile. 4. Vitamin B12. 5. Vitamin D3.
