Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For my company's official purpose, I recently went through an HIV test. I have attached the report. Kindly please check and guide me if everything is fine and what the report means.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have viewed the report (attachment removed to protect patient identity). You are negative for HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). There is nothing to worry. Continue with your diabetes medication.

Good luck.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am asking the following questions just for my knowledge and awareness. After an exposure, how many days later if a test is performed, it is regarded as conclusive? I am diabetic and take diabetic medicine. So, does this have any effect on the HIV test? Will the period for testing post exposure be the same or different in a diabetic?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The HIV test result is considered conclusive at 12 weeks. Diabetes will not affect the test results. The period of testing is the same for diabetics as well.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

So, in general, what are the precautions we should take to avoid HIV and AIDS?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

These are the general measures.

  1. Be loyal to your spouse or partner.
  2. If at all you are indulging in sex outside the marriage, it should be protected (by using a condom).
  3. Any syringes used on you should be fresh and unused.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

In a barber's shop, they use a blade while shaving off the beard. So, is it harmful if a used blade is used on me?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Though the probability is very less, it is not impossible. It is preferable to carry your own instruments or get the blade changed to a fresh one if at all you get shaved from outside.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
