Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had shortness of breath and a cough for some time. I got a chest CT that showed 9 nodules, the largest being 7 mm in the lower lobe. The rest are 5.4 mm or smaller. The CT results did not mention anything other than a follow-up CT in 3 to 6 months. I have read a lot of conflicting things online about nodules. I am a male of 31 years old. What are the chances of cancer? I take the tablet Hydroxyzine for anxiety.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Would it be possible for you to upload the DICOM (digital imaging and communications in medicine) images of the CT (computed tomography) so that I could make a complete evaluation? Otherwise, I can just make comments on the CT report that you have uploaded.

Thanks and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I have a picture of the largest nodule I took off my computer.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

It is quite natural to be concerned about lung cancer, and that is why medical procedures are there to relieve your worries. The nodules are too small to be called cancerous, and I personally feel these may represent some previous infectious change. That is why the radiologist has followed established international guidelines, and advised for a follow-up scan after 6 months, based on the largest nodule being within the range of 6 to 8 mm. If the nodules remain unchanged after 6 months, then you may be asked to maintain annual screening CT (computed tomography). Therefore, at present, you need not worry or occupy yourself with these thoughts, rather maintain a normal life and go for a follow-up scan at the time advised.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.

Regarding follow up
