Hello doctor,
My partner and I had sex on the 28th of last month. We used a condom, but I still have some doubts. The expected date of my periods is on the eighth of this month and I had sex two weeks ago. But from the last two days, I have body ache and pain in my belly. Also, I am feeling sleepy during the day. Since I never felt like this before my periods earlier, I am worried I could be pregnant.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The symptoms you are describing could also be due to the premenstrual syndrome (PMS) which is caused by the influence of the progesterone hormone post-ovulation which can mimic pregnancy to a small extent. Although you had intercourse around the time of your ovulation, as you had a protected intercourse the chances of getting pregnant is less. So, if there is a delay in your periods, the best thing to do is take a urine pregnancy test with an early morning urine sample. That will clear off your doubts if you are pregnant or not. If it is negative, you can stay assured. And if it is positive, you can take necessary action accordingly.
Thank you doctor,
I want to add that I checked my ovulation date before having sex. According to the app, my ovulation dates were between the 21st and the 26th. Does not this mean that ovulation was over before I had sex? Are there still chances of me getting pregnant?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The ovulation charts may not be 100 % accurate always. Also, an ovum has a life of around 48 hours to get fertilized by a sperm. So, chances can still be there.
