Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a wound on my right foot due to crakers. A month old dog puppy had put its nails on my would, and I can see very thin blood similar to a needle point. Shall I take rabies antibody injections, or can I ignore it? Please reply.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Is it oozing? Since when the wound happened? When the dog touched it, was it oozing or bleeding? Do you have pain, tenderness, swelling, or redness? Do you have blisters or fever? Attach the picture of the lesion for better understanding.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

It is not oozing, and it happened three weeks back. When the dog touched it, there was a tiny drop of blood in the middle of the wound, but not sure whether it was due to puppy nails or the pressure of the puppy's leg on my wound. I have very mild pain. No swelling, or redness, or blisters, and I do not have any fever.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the pictures (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

Get vaccinated against rabies for safety. Apply Fucidin cream twice daily for seven days (on the wound), Silverex cream/gel (Silver sulfadiazine) at night for 15 days.

Take tablet Ciplox (Ciprofloxacin) 500 mg once a day after breakfast for five days, tablet Emanzen D (Serrratiopeptidase and Diclofenac sodium) twice daily for three days (if pain).

Avoid scratching or rubbing lesions as it may cause secondary bacterial infection. Clean the area with Povidone-iodine using a cotton swab. Do daily dressing for two weeks. Follow up for any doubts.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
