Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Would you please explain what to expect in the first one to two months of pregnancy? If on the heavier side, how much weight gain is expected in the first month? Does everyone gain the weight right away? I also wonder about hormonal changes in the beginning. Is it common to experience emotional mood changes? What about pimples? Sometimes it is possible to get acne or pimples before PMS, but I also hear that it may come during pregnancy. Is there a difference in how this develops and how long it lasts? Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

1. If your BMI (body mass index) is more than the average, a total weight gain of 15 to 17 lbs is still expected. However, weight gain usually becomes apparent after four months or so. Before that, there should not be a drastic weight change.

2. During pregnancy, due to hormonal changes, irritability, mood swings, sleep pattern changes, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and urinary pattern changes are expected.

3. Pimples also can occur in pregnancy due to hormonal changes, but they will resolve by the seventh month onwards gradually.

Eat healthily, sleep well, and do not take any stress. Pregnancy is a beautiful natural miracle; enjoy every moment of it.

Good luck.
