A wart is a benign skin growth, which has a rough texture and can occur anywhere in the body. They have a smooth or projected surface. Human papillomavirus (HPV) causes warts. The common types of warts are common warts, pigmented warts, flat warts, and plantar warts. They disappear on their own, but it can take from a few weeks to many years. If they do not clear up on their own, then gels and creams containing Salicylic acid are used. Other treatment options include cryotherapy and surgical excision.
