Hemiplegia is a type of paralysis that affects only one side of the body. The right side and the left side of the brain controls the left and right side of the body respectively, so hemiplegia indicates some problem with one side of the brain. It can occur suddenly or can develop slowly over time. It results in loss of sensation and control in the affected side. Some of the causes of hemiplegia are one-sided traumatic brain injury, brain aneurysm, brain hemorrhage, stroke, encephalitis, meningitis, brain cancers, and congenital abnormalities. Depending on the cause, hemiplegia is treated with the help of blood thinners, antibiotics, surgery, and muscle relaxants.
