It is a painful condition of the lung where the lung is collapsed. The causes can basically be divided into three groups, that is, primary spontaneous, secondary spontaneous or traumatic. It is manifested as shortness of breath, raised heart rate, confusion, dizziness, loss of consciousness, chest pain wherein one side can be more severe, bluish discoloration of skin and lips, fast breathing, etc. The diagnosis includes personal and medical history, physical examination and some tests like CT scans, ultrasound. The treatment options are initially relieving the tension in lungs via tube, medications, and in some cases, surgical management may be required.
