Infra-orbital Nerve Damage

The infraorbital nerve carries the sensations from the lower eyelids, nose, upper lip, and front teeth to the brain. Trauma, facial fractures, and certain surgeries can injure the infraorbital nerve. Infraorbital nerve damage can cause numbness or pain in the nose, cheek, and upper lip. Most patients experience spontaneous sensory recovery in a year, though some might recover later. However, full recovery is generally expected after infraorbital nerve damage.
