A retractile testis is a condition seen in young male children of the prepuberty category. Under normal conditions, muscles of the scrotum called cremaster muscles pull the testicles up into the groin and move them down the scrotum, in response to reflexes. In children with retractile testicles, the testicles remain retracted into the groin and stay there. The conditions normally resolve by puberty, rarely one may need surgical correction.
