Erythema toxicum neonatorum occurs as a non-threatening rash in newborns. It begins to develop on the first day of the newborn. They appear as erythematous macules, papules, and pustules. It often begins on the face, and then it spreads to involve trunks and limbs. This condition does not require treatment, and it regresses within five to fourteen days.
