Can Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation be Treated with Homeopathic medicine, without any side effects (Homeopathy)

Dr. Unis. T., BHMS

Medical Case Details:

Erectile dysfunction (ED) occurs when a man has consistent and repeated problems sustaining an erection. Without treatment, ED can make sexual intercourse difficult. The problem is reported by 1 in 5 men, and that number increases with age.

Homeopathic approach is to individualize the case based on the totality of symptoms, examination, and tests. The role of homeopathy is more effective in physiological dysfunctions rather than pathological involvement.

Homoeopaths usually prescribe drugs like Phosphorricum Acidum, Agnus castus, Argentum nitricum, Argentum metallicum, Aurum muriaticum natronatum, Avena sativa, Caladium, Calcarea carbonica, Carboneum sulphuratum, Cobaltum metallicum, Damiana, Ginseng, Kalium phosphoricum, Lecithinum, Muira puama, Nuphar luteum, Onosmodium, Yohimbinum and others.

Erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculations are frequently encountered by homoeopathic physicians. My personal observation in these cases, many of the times the etiological factor is purely psychological and physiological causes. Of course there are a few debilitating diseases which cause ED and premature ejaculation.

Homoeopathy has been the choice of medicine for these above dysfunctions. These problems can be treated with Homoeopathy with constitutional approach where in the patient's mental state, physical state along with generalities are taken in to consideration and treated with high rate of success.

    Dr.Unis T,
I appreciate that you raised this important issue based on knowledge and clinical experience. I want to share my point of view as an expert psychologist (Sex Therapist).

Any treatment mode including drug therapy can be effective to reduce the stress/performance anxiety/tension during sexual performance (this is the reason why patients benefit from medicines), but this is not a complete cure, because if the main reason behind sexual dysfunction is found to be the psychological, then complete psychotherapy is necessary as the disorder is developed by the faulty beliefs and assumptions of the patient. When the patient stops medicines, the problem reoccurs. Both medicine and psychotherapy combined show the best results for a complete recovery from sexual dysfunction.
