Acquired Heart Disease

Acquired heart disease is more common in adults than in children. Children's two mainly occurring acquired heart conditions are Kawasaki disease and rheumatic heart disease. A streptococcal infection causes rheumatic heart disease. Children who have been treated for congenital heart defects can also have this condition. It can be treated through surgical procedures.
