Anal Sphincter

At the beginning of the anus and the end of the rectum is a muscular ring known as the anal sphincter. It plays a crucial role in controlling the passage of stool from the rectum to the outside of the body. The anal sphincter muscles are in charge of upholding continence and preventing bowel motions that are not voluntary. These muscles can become dysfunctional and cause problems like constipation or fecal incontinence, which frequently need medical attention.
