Detachment Of The Tendon

Detachment of tendon or tendon rupture is fairly uncommon but can be a severe problem resulting in excruciating pain and permanent disability if left untreated. Tendons can detach due to prolonged or repetitive activities, forceful exertions, vibration, awkward and static postures, and localized mechanical stress. The detached tendon can be repaired by sewing the torn ends together. In severe cases, a tendon graft may be required. In some cases, tendons are reattached to the surrounding tissues.
