Finkelstein's test is a clinical test used to diagnose de Quervain's tenosynovitis in people who have wrist pain. It is performed by grasping the thumb and deviating the hand in the ulnar direction. If sharp pain occurs along the distal radius, de Quervain's tenosynovitis is indicated. Finkelstein's test is commonly mistaken for Eichhoff's test, which is performed by asking the participant to held the thumb within the fist and the hand is passively abducted ulnarward by the examiner.
