I am a 18-year-old female who is diagnosed with hypertension. I am going to a festive place that is going to be super hot. Are there any tips for me to stay safe?
I want to know your blood pressure value. What is your systolic and diastolic pressure?
At such a young age, rule out secondary causes for hypertension like renal causes, psychological causes, cardiovascular causes, etc.
I suggest you do the urine VMA (vanillyl mandelic acid) level, electrocardiogram, doppler renal angiography, etc. if needed.
If no secondary causes are present then no need to worry.
Take a low-salt diet and drink more water. Eat green leafy vegetables and fruits. So, if you are going in high-temperature areas, maintaining hydration is very important. If blood pressure is not controlled by lifestyle measures then an antihypertensive drug should be prescribed.
Consult a physician for examination and further work up accordingly.
Hope it helps.
Thanks and regards.
