In hypopharyngeal cancer, malignant cancer cells grow in the tissues of the hypopharynx. The likelihood of developing hypopharyngeal cancer can be affected by tobacco use and excessive drinking. A sore throat and ear pain are indicators of hypopharyngeal cancer.
