Idiopathic Swelling

Idiopathic edema or swelling is the term for fluid retention in the face, hands, trunk, and limbs, which is not caused by any known medical condition. It commonly happens in premenopausal women. Diabetes, obesity, and emotional problems, including depression and neurotic symptoms are often involved in this syndrome. Although there is no treatment for idiopathic edema, having a low salt and potassium-rich diet, support stockings, weight loss, and regular exercise can help improve edema.
