Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a life-threatening complication with unknown pathology. It is a complication of rheumatic disease causing high fever, hepatosplenomegaly, sepsis, hemorrhagic manifestation, and lymphedenopathy in children. Moreover, it is characterized by activation and increased production of T-lymphocystes and macrophages. Most commonly, the treatment includes glucocorticoid therapy.
