Arbovirus

An arbovirus is a group of infections caused by arthropods that occurs in human beings. Flavivirus, togavirus, and bunyavirus are the three important groups of arthropods that cause arbovirus infection. The route of infection is mainly through insect bites, especially mosquitoes but may also be due to ticks, gnats, and fleas, It can also spread from one person to another through sexual contact, from mother to child, blood transfusion, and organ transplantation. They usually do not exhibit symptoms. If they exhibit they range from flu-like symptoms to encephalitis. Using insect repellant, covering the extremities while going out, and wearing light-colored clothes to easily identify the insects help in preventing arbovirus infection.
