Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness that is caused in children. It causes ulcers like sores in and around the mouth and rash-like blisters on hands, legs, and around the buttocks. The virus which is responsible for causing HFMD disease is called coxsackievirus 16 and enterovirus 71. Though this condition might be painful, it does not pose any serious threat. There is no vaccine for HFMD, and it typically goes away on its own after 7-10 days.
