Metyrapone

Metyrapone is a medicine that is used in diagnosing adrenal insufficiency and, in rare cases, is used as a treatment for Cushing syndrome. It is generally taken in the form of oral capsules before the day of testing and should be taken along with food. The next day, a urine or blood sample is taken, and the level of hormones is measured for checking the functioning of the adrenal gland. This might cause drowsiness and light-headedness, so it is not recommended to take this before driving or using any type of machinery.
