Mouth-to-mouth respiration is artificial ventilation done as first aid. Air is forced into the lungs by creating a positive pressure in the oropharynx. In cardiopulmonary resuscitation, it is used to produce internal breathing. A rescuer places their mouth on the patient's mouth and blows air into the airway.
