Pleura is a tissue that lines the lungs and cavity of the chest. A pleural biopsy is a procedure where a sample of tissue is taken from the pleural cavity. The tissue is examined for the presence of infection or cancer. There are three types of pleural biopsy, which are needle biopsy, thoracoscopic biopsy, and open biopsy.
