Schistosoma is a parasitic flatworm that causes a group of infections in humans known as schistosomiasis. Schistosoma is also called a blood fluke. Following an infection, symptoms like fever, chills, coughing, and muscle aches may appear within one to two months. In addition, schistosomiasis can last for years if left untreated.
