Schwarz Appliance

The Schwarz appliance is the most often used removable device to expand a narrow arch. This appliance functions by bending the expansion screw in the middle of the palate, one-quarter twist once or twice per week. It allows the acrylic to put pressure on both the palatal tissue and the teeth in a lateral orientation.
