Theanine

Theanine is an amino acid commonly found in tea and some mushroom varieties. It is available in two forms, L-Theanine and D-Theanine. This theanine works similarly to glutamate, a naturally occurring amino acid that helps transmit nerve impulses in the brain. L-Theanine reduces anxiety and promotes relaxation by reducing stress without causing sedation. The side effects of L-Theanine are nausea, stomach upset, and irritability.
