Tuberculous Lymphadenitis

Tuberculous lymphadenitis is swelling of lymph nodes with caseous degeneration. It is a bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis or some related bacteria. The manifestation of it is divided into five stages. Tuberculous granuloma is the characteristic pattern of this infection. Tuberculin test, CT scan of the chest, biopsy, AFB staining are the diagnostic aids for tuberculous lymphadenitis. It leads to weight loss, fever, fatigue, etc. For treatment, anti-tubercular medication has to be taken for six months to one year.
