Vildagliptin

Vildagliptin, an oral DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitor drug, is used for treating type 2 diabetes. By suppressing the actions of DPP and increasing the actions of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide 1), it results in higher insulins levels and lowers glucose levels, especially after eating. DPP inhibitors are a new class of oral antidiabetic drugs used along with diet to reduce high blood sugar levels.
