Bimaxillary Protrusion

Bimaxillary protrusion is the proclination or forward placement of the upper and lower front teeth. It is accompanied by an inability to close the lips, a gummy smile, and an open bite of the front teeth. It can occur due to genetic and environmental factors like mouth breathing, increased volume of the tongue, or any lip and tongue habits. Bimaxillary protrusion can be corrected using arch retraction followed by an orthodontic appliance.
