Bony Mallet Injury

Bony mallet injury is a condition that affects the joints at the tip of the fingers. Here the extensor tendon that is attached to the part called the distal phalanx is injured and cannot function anymore. As a result, the finger stays curled in at the tip. It is most common in baseball games where the ball might hit the tip of the finger with great force, and a bone attached to the joint gets avulsed.
