Common "Cholesteatoma" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Cholesteatoma

Cholesteatoma is a cyst or noncancerous growth that develops behind the eardrum, usually in the middle section of the ear. The condition may occur following repeated ear infections or may be present as a birth defect. As the condition progresses, this abnormal growth may increase in size and damage the delicate bones of the ear. This may eventually lead to impaired hearing, affect the balance, and dysfunction of the facial muscles.
