Diethylcarbamazine

Diethylcarbamazine is used to treat filarial diseases like lymphatic filariasis caused by Wuchereria bancrofti, Brugia timori, or Brugia malayi. Further, it is also used in pulmonary eosinophilia, onchocerciasis, and loiasis caused by Loa Loa. It is an antihelmintic drug and acts by phagocytosis of the microfilariae. Fever, rashes, tender and painful lymph nodes, night blindness, encephalopathy, etc., are the side effects of using the drug.
