Erythrasma

Erythrasma is a skin condition affecting the skin folds. It causes slow enlarging patches on the skin that are pink to brown in color. It is caused by the bacteria Corynebacterium minutissimum. It occurs more commonly in people living in warm and humid conditions. Patients with diabetes, immunodeficient individuals, and obese persons are highly prone to develop erythrasma. It is treated by taking oral antibiotics like Erythromycin, and applying antibacterial creams over the affected region.
