Friction Folliculitis

Folliculitis is a skin condition causing inflammation of one or more hair follicles. It occurs most often in the areas that are frequently shaved or friction due to clothes. The inflamed follicles get infected by staphylococcus aureus, and it affects people of all ages. Patients with diabetes, obesity, HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), and eczema have an increased risk of developing folliculitis. It causes pus-filled bumps on the affected hair follicles. It often affects the scalp, groin, buttocks, and thighs. Applying topical antibiotic creams provides some relief.
