Gastrostomy-jejunostomy Tube

Gastrostomy-jejunostomy Tube, also known as the G-J tube, is primarily an alternate method of feeding a child. This tube is placed in the child’s stomach and small intestine to provide drainage or an alternate route to feed the child (specifically with the J part of the tube). First, a balloon at the end of the G-J tube within the stomach secures it to the stomach wall, allowing it to stay in place in the child's stomach. Next, the J-tube is inserted into the jejunum through the same hole in the stomach wall and secured with the same balloon.
