Gic Filling

GIC or glass-ionomer cement is a filling or restorative material used in dentistry to restore the carious tooth permanently. Key ingredients are calciumaluminofluorosilicate glass and polyacrylic acid. They are tooth-colored restorations, and they release fluoride, thereby acting against cariogenic bacteria. Moreover, they bond to the tooth structure chemically, and their strength increases as they age. And hence it involves minimal tooth preparation. It is used along with composites in the sandwich technique.
