Glucagon

Glucagon is a hormone that helps balance the glucose level in the blood by working in association with other hormones. It is secreted by the alpha cells of the pancreas and influences the liver in the reduction of stored glycogen into glucose when there is glucose deficiency in the body. Furthermore, it protects the liver from glucose consumption by releasing it into the blood. Also, it is needed for gluconeogenesis, in which glucose is synthesized from the amino acid molecules.
