Indirect ophthalmoscopy is performed to examine the fundus or back of the eye using a beam of light and a hand-held lens. It provides a wider and more accurate view inside the eye than a usual ophthalmoscope. The indirect lenses called "aspheric" or "condensing" lenses are most commonly used.
