Infarction

Infarction is ischemic tissue necrosis due to loss of arterial blood supply or venous drainage. The leading causes of infarction are thrombosis and thromboembolism. Other causes may include vasospasm, vessel compression or torsion, traumatic rupture, etc. Types of infarction are anemic, hemorrhagic, septic, myocardial, and cerebral.
