Intact Hymen

The hymen is the thin membrane present at the opening of the vagina, which partially covers the external vaginal opening. The hymen might tear during first penetrative sex, which might cause slight discomfort and bleeding. The surgical restoration of a torn hymen is called hymenorrhaphy.
