Long Bone Ratio

The bones of the upper and lower limbs are considered long bones such as the tibia, fibula, femur, radius, ulna, humerus, metacarpals, metatarsals, phalanges, and clavicles. The measurement or the ratio of these limb bones in a fetus are used in dating the pregnancy and detecting the growth of the fetus and its anatomy. The femur length is used in regular pregnancy scans to diagnose any fetal anomaly if present through ultrasonography. Long bone ratios can reveal any fetal skeletal dysplasia.
