Myelomalacia

Myelomalacia is the medical term for softening of the spinal cord. It could be due to blood clots, inadequate blood supply to the spinal cord, injury, cervical myelopathy. There is spinal cord compression in the cervical spine. Magnetic resonance imaging or myelography is used for the diagnosis of myelomalacia. Only symptomatic treatment can be given, and there is no treatment to reverse the nerve damage.
