Normal Cervical Length

The normal length of the cervix for women is four to five centimeters. However, during pregnancy, the cervix length decreases with the progress of the pregnancy. The further along the pregnant mother is, the shorter the cervix length. According to recent studies, the average length of the cervix in pregnant women is 3.5 centimeters at 24 weeks of gestation. If the cervix length is shorter (lesser than 2.2 centimeters), there is a high chance of preterm delivery.
