Portal Vein Thrombosis

Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a narrowing or blockage of the portal vein due to a blood clot. It develops in the central body of the portal vein or its intrahepatic tributaries and even expand to the splenic or superior mesenteric veins. PVT often arises due to cirrhosis of the liver.
