Purple Spots

Purple spots called purpura occur as a result of the bursting of blood vessels causing the pooling of blood beneath the skin. It is mostly associated with a low blood platelet count (thrombocytopenic purpura). It can also be associated with a normal platelet count (non-thrombocytopenic purpura).
